Today we took the last set of M's senior pictures at Capitol Park in downtown Tuscaloosa. The first set was taken while I was out of town - I think I was in Texas meeting Ed "Too Tall" Jones and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. That set was done by Prestige pictures and cost me a pretty penny, more than I realized it would be. This set was done by Kim Lawson, and I wanted to get some nice casual shots with M, and a few with me and K too.
How weird it was, knowing there would be no more "yearbook" shots that I'd be paying $50 for; scrutinizing to see which hair was out of place; or if the shirt looked right. She's grown so fast, and is so beautiful - both inside and out. I told her yesterday how proud I was of her.
We also took care of some school supplies at Target tonight. All three of us, trooping into Target, after a dinner at McAlister's talking about favorite teachers at Riverside and TCHS (Mr. Calhoun, Mrs. Farnham, etc). At Target, one girl was low-key as always, and one was high strung and stressed out because the list was not in the order it should have been, the items were not to her liking, and she just didn't like the experience. Typical...as much as I tell K that she just isn't in control and she just needs to get over it - well, she doesn't.
Yesterday, we found out that M was going to be able get her wisdom teeth out before school started. The nurse at Dr. McElwain's was so cute: she assumed I was M, and that M was my supportive friend helping me cope with surgery. Then she gently asked me as I started my probing questions...."just to make sure, you ARE her mother, right?" Made me feel good...I think.
